From Determination to Career Success
Elva Trujillo’s journey shows what can happen when adult schools work together to support a student’s goals. She first built her academic skills through Tulare Adult School, then continued her training at Visalia Adult School in the Resident Care Assistant and CNA pathway. With added support for uniforms, training costs, resume help, and job search assistance, Elva stayed focused on her future. Today, she is working as a CNA and plans to continue her education by enrolling in RN courses at College of the Sequoias. Her story is a powerful example of persistence, support, and student success.

Jacob Reyes

Inspired to Care
Jacob Reyes is turning his passion for helping others into a career in nursing. Now enrolled in the Vocational Nursing program at Visalia Adult School, Jacob says his interest in healthcare began during time spent in and out of the hospital, where he saw firsthand the kindness and care nurses showed his family. What he enjoys most is connecting what he learns in class to real-life situations during clinicals, making the work feel meaningful and purposeful. With strong support from his family and a clear sense of direction, Jacob is building the skills he needs for a future in patient care.

Saline Flores

Perseverance with Purpose
Saline Flores has shown dedication and perseverance in her evening HSE program, even as she juggled more than most people will ever know.  She has a clear goal for herself and is always prepared to try. She believes her drive, honesty, responsibility, and integrity have helped her remain focused in her program. Upon completing the HiSET program, her goal is to continue learning and striving for a brighter future. Her next step is to enroll in a nursing program where she can use her caregiving skills and turn them into a career.
